Teaching assistants

As any teacher will tell you a really good teaching assistant is like gold dust. As a teacher you tend to take the main role in most lessons however a successful lesson usually is backed up by an excellent T.A.

From preparation of printing out work sheets, to helping the children to complete the tasks involved with the lesson the T.A will be able to offer a lot of support.

Being creative is definitely a bonus as a T.A as often you will be called upon to do classroom displays or help with props for school assemblies and may even be asked to do art projects with small groups of children.

The key to a successful classroom is a good working relationship between the teacher and the teaching assistant with great communication as to what’s needed and when.

If you’re interested in becoming a teaching assistant then contact your local school to enquire about the route into this career and maybe pop in for a discussion with them.
